SQL Saver Privacy Policy

Overview

SQL Saver is committed to protecting your privacy. This extension operates entirely on your local device and does not collect, transmit, or share any user data with external servers or third parties.

Data Collection

SQL Saver does NOT collect any user data.

We do not:

• Collect personal information
• Track your browsing activity
• Send your queries to external servers
• Use analytics or tracking tools
• Share data with third parties
• Display advertisements

Data Storage

All your data is stored locally on your device only using browser storage mechanisms:

• SQL Queries: Stored in IndexedDB on your device
• Folders and Tags: Stored locally in IndexedDB
• Settings and Preferences: Stored in Chrome's local storage
• Query History: Stored locally on your device

Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it.

Permissions Explanation

SQL Saver requests the following permissions to function properly:

storage

Why we need it: To save your SQL queries, folders, tags, and user preferences locally on your device using IndexedDB and Chrome's storage API.

What we do with it: Store and retrieve your queries for offline access.

contextMenus

Why we need it: To add a "Save SQL Query" option when you right-click on selected text.

What we do with it: Create convenient context menu shortcuts for saving queries.

activeTab

Why we need it: To access the currently active tab when you choose to save selected SQL text.

What we do with it: Capture text that you explicitly select and choose to save via the context menu or keyboard shortcut.

sidePanel

Why we need it: To display the side panel interface where you can browse your query library.

What we do with it: Open the side panel when you click the library icon to show your saved queries.

host permissions (https://*/*)

Why we need it: To detect SQL editors on popular data platforms and enable automatic query capture.

Specific platforms we support:

• Google BigQuery (console.cloud.google.com)
• Snowflake (app.snowflake.com)
• AWS Redshift
• Mode Analytics (mode.com)
• Looker
• Metabase

What we do with it: We only detect SQL editor elements on these specific platforms to enhance the user experience. We capture text that you explicitly select. We do not access, collect, or transmit any other data from these pages.

Third-Party Services

SQL Saver does not use any third-party services, including:

• No analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics)
• No tracking or monitoring tools
• No advertising networks
• No cloud storage services
• No external APIs

Data Security

Your data security is ensured by:

• Local-only storage: All data remains on your device
• No transmission: Queries are never sent to external servers
• Browser security: Chrome's built-in security mechanisms protect your data
• No account required: No login or authentication means no password risks

Data Retention and Deletion

You have full control over your data:

• Retention: Data is stored indefinitely on your device until you delete it
• Manual deletion: Delete individual queries or folders anytime
• Complete removal: Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data from your device
• Export capability: Export your queries before uninstalling (feature available in the extension)

Children's Privacy

SQL Saver is a professional tool designed for data analysts, developers, and SQL professionals. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the extension or legal requirements. When we make changes:

• We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Significant changes will be communicated through the extension's update notes
• Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy

Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:

• Access: View all your saved queries anytime in the extension
• Modify: Edit or update any query, folder, or tag
• Delete: Remove individual items or all data by uninstalling
• Export: Export your data at any time
